Black Poetry in NM and Beyond: An Evening with Santa Fe's Poet Laureate Online

Santa Fe Poet Laureate, Darryl Lorenzo Wellington, will discuss the historical trajectory of Black poets from the Civil War through Black Lives Matter. Learn how Black poets have consistently aligned themselves with anti-racist political movements over time, including anti-slavery and anti-lynching campaigns. 

Wellington is an award-winning author who worked as a professional journalist for 20 years. His articles, fiction, and poetry have appeared in The Atlantic, The Washington Post, Boston Review, The Nation, and more. His most recent book, Psalms at the Present Time, was published last November. In addition to his other endeavors, Wellington is a performance artist who currently resides in Santa Fe, NM.
