- Thursday, October 12th 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm in the lobby of the Mesa Public Library
-
Friday, October 13th 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm at the White Rock branch library
In the days leading up to the annular Eclipse on October 14th, NASA Mission Manager Charles "Chuck" Tatro will host two public outreach events as a representative of NASA. He will meet with library patrons and all interested members of the public to give out free NASA Eclipse glasses, as well as stickers and information about some of the NASA missions that are currently studying our Sun. The focus will be on the most recently launched Solar science missions including the Solar Orbiter and the Parker Solar Probe, and the Eclipse path and viewing tips. (see links below)
Tatro grew up in Los Alamos and is returning home to view the Eclipse on October 14th. Tatro works for the NASA Launch Services Program at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida. His group is responsible for launching all of NASA's and NOAA's scientific spacecraft. See his bio here: https://www.nasa.gov/centers/kennedy/about/biographies/tatro.html
These two outreach events are good opportunities to secure free glasses for members of the public who do not plan to attend the community viewing event at the Los Alamos High school courtyard on October 14th. Community viewing event info here: https://laconm.libcal.com/event/11287985
