Storytime with special guest author Nicoli Carr

Storytime with special guest author Nicoli Carr In-Person

Come by Mesa Public Library for Saturday storytimes! Our themed storytimes are an excellent way to start a weekend with reading fun.

Children’s book author Nicoli Carr is visiting Mesa Public Library youth services for storytime Saturday, May 18. Carr will join the 10:15 storytime to share his first published picture book “Wally the Wake-Up Pup.” After storytime, Carr will have a table for book sales and signing. The price is $18 and cash, check, or charge are welcome.

"Wally the Wake-Up Pup" is about a dog going around waking up his family in the morning. Carr says, yes, he and his family do have a dog named Wally. The website Reader Views gave a Bronze Award to Wally, the Wake-Up Pup by Nicoli Carr published by Mascot Kids (2023).

To learn more about author Nicoli Carr and his book, please visit www.nicolicarr.com. Carr says he’s written stories since he was in second or third grade. One thing his online biography doesn’t mention is that he’s a former employee of the library.

Library storytime is perfect for kids ages 3-5 years. We delight in sharing books, early literacy concepts, songs, and fun with kids who can listen to a few books and are starting to put the world together in story form.

Our library system offers storytime three times each week. On Wednesdays, we're at the branch library in White Rock with storytime fun starting at 10:15. Thursdays, join us at Mesa Public Library in Los Alamos for storytime starting at 10:30. Saturdays, we welcome our storytime friends at 10:15.

Wednesday 10:15 White Rock Branch Library- storytime rug in children's area

Thursday 10:30 Mesa Public Library- The Zone

Saturday 10:15 Mesa Public Library- the 1st floor rotunda

If you have younger kids, please know they are welcome, but some activities might not hold their attention. If you have a 5 or 6-year-old who is already reading, they are welcome, but some of the concepts we talk about are things they already know well.  Our storytime family welcomes everyone as we work to give all ages something special. Staff is trained to shift on the fly and re-focus if we get an especially younger or older-skewing group.
