LGBTQIA+ 101: Understanding and Allyship in 2022

LGBTQIA+ 101: Understanding and Allyship in 2022 Online

*This event will be livestreamed via Zoom. Registration is required. See below for details.

Has the LGBT acronym grown since you last looked at it? Are you curious about why we celebrate Pride Month in June or what all those colorful flags represent? Trying to figure out pronouns, gender/sex, and slang? Oh, my! This talk is for those who feel out of the loop with all things rainbow (or are seeking a more in-depth understanding) and are hoping to catch up or cry trying. We will cover some history of the LGBT movement, including the Stonewall Riots and more.

This program will be presented by library staff member Maegan Carter, a lifelong New Mexico native from Española who completed undergraduate studies in psychology and anthropology at UNM. She is currently pursuing a master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling at Highlands University and AASECT certification in sex therapy.
