Beginning ESL, with UNM-LA In-Person

The Adult Learning Center (ALC) at the University of New Mexico, Los Alamos offers this English as a Second Language (ESL) class for beginners at Los Alamos Public Library.

The classes held at Mesa Public Library, are currently suspended awaiting a new instructor.

The classes held at White Rock Branch Library, with instructors Jolene and Edith, are held Mondays and Tuesday, from 5:30 to 7:00pm.

Wednesday evening, the 5:30 to 7:00pm classes are held online-only.

The Adult Learning Center provides services in a campus-based learning center designed to improve the educational level of adults, out-of-school youth, and non-English speaking persons sixteen (16) years of age and older. Eligible students are individuals seeking to prepare for life, work, or post-secondary education with skill levels below the college level and who can benefit from the instruction.

The UNM-Los Alamos Adult Learning Center provides free classes, instructional materials, tutoring, and a computer practice lab to learn English as a Second Language (ESL), prepare for a high school equivalency credential, and prepare for college and a career. Services include instruction in reading, writing, and math, all levels of ESL instruction, and an introduction to essential job skills for the workforce.
